With the WWE Royal Rumble 2013 PPV mere hours away, I thought I’d stick my predictions of what I expect to happen tonight.
Tonight at Sun Life Stadium, Miami, The Show of Shows will take place. Wrestlemania XXVIII. The Grandest Stage of Them All. The Showcase of the Immortals. What ever you want to call it, it’s happening tonight.
Below you’ll find my predictions for tonight’s match ups. Enjoy.
Triple Threat Tag Team Championship
Primo & Epico defend against both The Usos and the new tandem of Justin Gabriel & Tyson Kidd. With The Usos being involved in the Hall Of Fame yesterday – inducting Yokozuna with Rikishi – they are my favorites to pick up the Tag Team Championship, with a likely appearance from Rikishi to join the celebrations.
Winners: The Usos (New Champions)
Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos vs. Divas Champion Beth Phoenix & Eve
Ok, hands up if anyone is really interested in this Diva match up. Oh. nobody. My thoughts exactly. I don’t have any interest in this. Likely Kelly Kelly & Menounos to pick up the win.
Winner: Kelly Kelly & Maria Menounos
Randy Orton vs Kane
Not really much build up to this match up, but I have a feeling it could be a great fight. I’m a big fan of Orton since he cleaned his act up. I can see the battles between these two wrestlers raging all summer long. I’m gonna go with a Orton win.
Winner: Randy Orton
Team Long vs Team Laurinaitis
The build up to this match up has been annoying to say the least. I’ve not had any love for Laurinaitis since he came on the scene last year. With that in mind, I think the Team Laurinaitis will take the victory in this one. Unfortunately.
Winner: Team Laurinaitis
Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show
For weeks now Rhodes has been mocking the Show’s record at Wrestlemania – which is, lets say, not great. But I have a feeling that Big Show will wipe that weird smile off Rhodes’ face with a well placed WMD.
Winner: Big Show (New Champion)
World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus
After Sheamus won the Royal Rumble in January, he picked Bryan’s title as the one he’d go for at Wrestlemania. He did so emphatically after Bryan had defended his title at the brutal Elimination Chamber. Since then Bryan has picked up a few victories over Sheamus, albeit controversially. I think the same will happen tonight. Bryan will find some way to keep his hands on the World Heavyweight championship.
Winner: Daniel Bryan
WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho
I wasn’t all that keen on this match up when Jericho returned from DWTS. I didn’t find him relevant. However, since then both Punk & Jericho have built up a nice boiling pot, which will overspill in Miami. Both wrestlers are great on the mic – throwing barbs at each other at every opportunity possible. They both claim to be the ‘best in the world’ at what they do and I have a feeling that CM Punk will remain WWE Champion, but certainly not before a great match. This has epic written all over it & I think it will be the best of the night.
Winner: CM Punk
The Undertaker vs. Triple H (Hell in a Cell Match with special referee Shawn Michaels)
This match up has the possibility to be epic, truly epic. Two legends facing off to either end the Streak or end an era of HHH. Adding HBK as the special guest referee, along with the Hell in a Cell stipulation, only adds a huge amount of spice. We saw HHH & Taker go toe-to-toe last year, with Taker extending his streak to 19-0 at Wrestlemania, but can both wrestlers repeat what happened last year – they’re both a year older now, both at the ends of their respective careers. I think Taker will continue his streak after a grueling fight. After seeing pictures of the Kliq last night at the HOF event, it’s possible that Kevin Nash & X-Pac get involved with HBK & HHH at some point, unlikely but possible.
Winner: Undertaker (20-0)
John Cena vs. The Rock
When The Rock cost Cena his match against the Miz at WM27, the next night on Raw (another year before WM28) a ‘Once in a Lifetime’ match was agreed between Cena and The Rock. All year long both superstars have battled via twitter, over the mic and in the squared circle. Even joining forces at Survivor Series to battle Miz & R-Truth.
In recent weeks, these battles, between the two, have increased – with The Rock showing up on Raw most weeks. I can see Cena picking up the victory, why? Well. with the rumors of Brock Lesnar agreeing to a one-year contract with WWE, I see Brock interfering dropping The Rock with a F5 and giving Cena a shot at victory. This will lead to The Rock & Brock facing off at Summerslam.
Winner: John Cena
So. We’re just over an hour till the first match is started. Let’s get ready to ruuuuummmmble.
